Dr. Steve Williams - BA (Hons), GradDip, PhD

Steve teaches employment relations, comparative employment relations, human resource management and international human resource management on undergraduate and postgraduate courses. His co-authored books include Government, Markets and Vocational Qualifications: an Anatomy of Policy (Falmer, 1999), Myths at Work (Polity, 2000), Business in Society (Polity, 2009) and Contemporary Employment Relations: a Critical Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2nd edition, 2010). He also co-edited (with Sarah Gilmore) Human Resource Management for Oxford University Press (2009). Steve has published articles about: workplace partnership; vocational qualifications policy; the effects of the National Minimum Wage; employment relations in further education colleges; information and consultation arrangements; and trade unionism. Steve’s current research interests include the worker representation activities of civil society organisations, the role of civil regulation in employment relations and the work and the employment relations policies of the UK's coalition government. He is also working on a book project around globalisation and work for Polity Press.
