Profile
Karen Knibbs Pg Cert L&T, Pg Cert SRM, BA (Hons), DipM, MCIM
Karen joined the Portsmouth Business School in September 2002, following several years' experience working in business-to-business marketing communications and marketing management, in technology industry organisations. She was appointed as Principal Lecturer in 2010 and as Course Leader responsible for Undergraduate Marketing and Marketing with Psychology BA(Hons) pathways. The role of Course Leader means that Karen is constantly striving to provide the best possible student experience; helping students settle into University life, supporting students with their final year projects, organising internal student focus groups and peer-mentoring schemes and collaborative professional practice development events.
Karen coordinates and teaches on a range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate units, particularly in the areas of marketing principles, digital marketing operations, marketing research, innovation and brand management. Her foreign language skills and own overseas study experiences also mean she is able to relate well to our broad-ranged study body.
In addition to teaching, her previous roles included Level 1 Year Tutor for Human Resources and Marketing pathways, HRMM Departmental Electives Coordinator and Personal Tutoring Coordinator across first and second year levels. She had also been elected to sit on the University Learning and Teaching Committee and assists with various PBS Faculty management groups.
Karen's research interests relate to branding, SMEs, business-to-business and technology industry-marketing.
On a more personal level, Karen enjoys live music, world cuisine, long walks, swimming and modern dance.
