David Ward BA (Hons), MBA, PGCE
David is a senior lecturer in Marketing.
Background
David joined Portsmouth Business School in August 2000, following 20 years working as a senior marketing manager and marketing consultant for both blue-chip and SME companies. These included Legal & General, IBM, Edexcel, Monster and the Department of Education. He has experience of working in marketing communications, marketing strategy, e-commerce development and international marketing management. During the past 9 years David has also taught part-time on the post-graduate level courses for the CIM.
David has a BA Hons (Lancaster) and was the first person to graduate in Marketing and German at Lancaster University in 1987. He also holds a MBA (Manchester Business School) and a PGCE.
Key Teaching Areas
David is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing, whose teaching includes consumer behaviour, marketing research, digital marketing and social cause marketing, at undergraduate and Masters level. He also supervises a number of students for their dissertations.
Research interests
Digital marketing strategy, social media, online communities. David also supports the Business School in its external consultancy and has worked on a KTP project to identify new market opportunities for an international power supply company; and a marketing research project focusing on student media.
