Mr Gerry Banks MPhil (CNAA), DMS, FIH
Gerry is an Associate Senior Lecturer in the Department of Human Resource and Marketing Management. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality.
Gerry's lecturing specialism focuses on Hospitality Management, especially Food and Beverage Management and Gastronomy. Gerry also teaches Study Skills across a range of Business School courses.
Additionally, Gerry takes a close interest in all matters associated with the Supervised Work Experience (SWE) of students on undergraduate programmes in Hospitality and Tourism Management. For 14 years until taking semi-retirement in 2008, Gerry was Course Leader for undegraduate programmes in Hospitality Management. Since 2008 Gerry has worked for the University as an Associate Lecturer on a 0.6 contract, with responsibilities including teaching and the role of Year Two Tutor for Hospitality undergraduates.
Gerry has been an External Examiner for Hospitality programmes at a number of universities including the University of North London (now London Metropolitan University), and most recently at Sheffield Hallam University. He has also been involved in a number of international collaborations related to undergraduate and postgraduate Hospitality and Tourism course provision in Bulgaria and France, and has been invited to lecture in these and other countries including Finland and Hungary.
