Dr David Hathorn - BA(Hons), MSc, PhD, Chartered Fellow CQI, CMIPD, MSEE
David Hathorn joined Portsmouth Business School in 1995 after 32 years in the Procurement Executive and the Navy Department of the Ministry of Defence. He has an aeronautical background serving in various capacities in military aircraft and engine repair, production and project management. He is an experienced auditor having led many Quality Assessments at some of the largest organisations in the defence sector His last MOD appointment was leading a Software Quality Assurance auditing cell in support of complex weapons projects. He has provided training and consultancy support to many organisations on Quality, Supply Chain Management, and Environmental related topics.
He is a registered IRCA Lead Auditor (including the aerospace sector scheme) and was Course Director on the MSc programmes in Strategic Quality Management: After early retirement from the University he now works as a part time lecturer on a number of post graduate courses . His subjects are quality, organisational change and development, environmental management and project management.
He has degrees in Systems Analysis and Non-Financial Performance Measurement in Organisations.
He has provided consultancy and training services to many organisations and is currently researching various organisational management issues including change management, human factors and integrated management.
He likes reading (mainly history) and walking; finds people and society fascinating; he also considers himself a pretty mean cook….
