Martin Read
Martin's teaching interests are Project Management and Management Information Systems, and he has qualified as a PRINCE2 practitioner. Martin has taught on a variety of postgraduate and undergraduate programmes including the MBA, DBA and BA (Hons) Business Studies. He is a Fellow of the Operational Research Society (FORS) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Martin's research interests are in the development and application of Group Decision Support Systems, and Martin has published articles, undertaken business consultancy in the UK and overseas, and received grant income in this area. Martin is also a member of the Editorial Board of International Journal of Management and Decision Making.
Martin was Head of Department for the Department of Strategy and Business Systems for eight years, having previously been a Principal Lecturer and Subject Group Leader. Martin has also been a member of Academic Council and the University Quality Assurance Committee, and he has been external examiner and chaired or been a member of approval events both in the UK and overseas. Prior to joining the University of Portsmouth, Martin worked for a variety of public and private organisations in Project Management, Systems Analyst and Operational Research roles.
Martin is also a keen astronomer, and can often be found scanning the night skies at the Clanfield Observatory.
