John Terry

John started as a Part Time lecturer at Portsmouth in 1996 and became Full Time in 2008.

  • BSc (Hons) Chemistry and Physics, Southampton University
  • DMS Diploma in Management Studies, Portsmouth Polytechnic
  • Qualified Person Status: Recognised as 'QP' by Department of Health for Pharmaceutical Manufacturer.

Project Management with particular interest in Project Risk, Negotiation and Statistical Modeling

Business Statistics to Undergraduates and Postgraduates

Operational Research methods with particular interest in Optimisation and Probabilistic Decision modeling

Financial Mathematics

Within the Pharmaceutical Industry, given extensive formal job training to small and large groups of unskilled, skilled, graduate and postdoctoral workers with particular interest in Manufacture, and Research and Development

Given seminars to researchers on topics including: Statistics, Design of Experiments, Total Quality, Operational Research, and Artificial Neural Networks.

Research Areas:

  • Artificial Neural Networks
  • Measurement of statistical noise in complex data sets
  • Many specialist Pharmaceuticals, including novel delivery systems, novel manufacturing methods and formulation developments
  • Management responsibilities:

Extensive line management experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry particularly in Research and Development, and Manufacturing (up to £100 million budget)

Extensive Project Management experience, managing a wide variety of small, medium and large projects including:

  • factory start ups on both green and brown field site
  • managing multiple R&D teams simultaneously
  • organization-wide IT projects
  • Leadership of Post Graduate Course
