Vijay Vyas, PhD (Edinburgh Napier)

Vijay is Senior Lecturer in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship.  He has been Professor of Business Economics at the MS University of Baroda, India, visiting Professor in Entrepreneurship at Lancaster University Management School, UK, Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Edinburgh Napier University and on-line MBA e-moderator at University of Liverpool. He is a reviewer for the Emerald Group Publishing Ltd’s TQM Magazine and a founding member of Society of Entrepreneurship Educators (see2003). He has been consultant to Promethean, UK, Lupin Laboratories, India and Diamines and Chemicals, India.

Vijay, as a member of a PBS team made a successful bid for a £108,000 Knowledge Transfer Project with Classic Folios for which he currently works as the Knowledge Base Supervisor.

Vijay is the founder of Indian Entrepreneurship Initiative, a consortium of 3 premier institutes in India namely, Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship Development at Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmadabad and Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad. The consortium carries out research activities of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) in India and publishes annual GEM India reports of which Vijay is one of the contributing authors. Vijay is also a member of GEM India team and represented India at 2012 GEM Annual Meeting in San-Francisco.

Vijay has written and published poetry in Hindi, the national language of India.       

Research interests:

Vijay’s research interests are in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation. Low-tech innovation by small companies in traditional industries and relationship between entrepreneurship and economic growth are the areas of his current research.

Teaching:

In the current year, Vijay is coordinating two undergraduate entrepreneurship course units and a unit on Business and Management Dissertations. He also teaches Corporate Entrepreneurship at MBA and conducts MBA Masterclass on Entrepreneurship with Dr Zoe Dann
