M&S Deputy Secretary to speak at Business School open evening
Tue, Nov 9, 2010
Lesley Brownett was appointed Deputy Secretary in 2002 after spending 20 years working in a variety of roles at Marks and Spencer. She has worked closely with the Board since 1991, gaining a unique insight into the impact of leadership and governance in a high profile company.
In 2007 she received the Chambers Excellence in Corporate Governance Award for innovation and best practice and for providing succinct, relevant advice to senior management.
The Dean of Portsmouth Business School, Ann Ridley, said: “I am delighted to welcome such an impressive speaker to our open evening. Lesley’s professional experience and wisdom will give the audience a tremendous insight into the intricacies of working for one of the UK’s leading retailers.”
Marks & Spencer has over 21 million people visiting its stores each week. The company employs over 75,000 people in the UK and abroad, and has over 600 UK stores, as well as an expanding international business.
Over drinks and canapés, the open evening reception will provide an opportunity for business professionals and students to meet lecturers, current and past students and discuss the benefits of studying at one of the south's best business schools.
The open evening is from 6.00 – 8.00pm, Thursday 11 November in Richmond Building at the Portsmouth Business School.
