Founder and Chairman of Carte Blanche Greetings, a card publisher and gift manufacturer which is home of the ‘Tatty Teddy’ brand, will give a personal insight into how his business started from an idea and developed into a multi-million pound company when he speaks at Portsmouth Business School next week.

Stephen Haines will speak to students, business professionals and staff at a Portsmouth Business School open evening on Tuesday 15th March. He will discuss the obstacles, challenges, highlights and success of the company he founded over 20 years ago.

Mr Haines said he launched the company with a portfolio of just 12 cards and a big dream. Turnover has doubled in the past four years and it is now estimated that annual retail sales are fast approaching $1 billion.

Carte Blanche greetings is probably best known for the brand ‘Tatty Teddy’, a vulnerable looking grey teddy bear with a blue nose and sewn-on patches. It is the bestseller at the Chichester-based card publisher and gift manufacturer.

Head of the Department of Human Resource and Marketing Management, Gill Christy, said: “I am delighted to be able to welcome entrepreneur Stephen Haines to our open evening. Carte Blanche Greetings shows how an innovative and creative local business can grow to be both successful and internationally recognisable. We are looking forward to hearing him tell the story behind the brand."

Over drinks and canapés, the open evening reception will provide an opportunity for business professionals and students to meet lecturers, current and past students and discuss the benefits of studying at one of the south's best business schools.

The open evening is from 6.00 – 8.00pm, Tuesday 15th March in Richmond Building at the Portsmouth Business School.
