Business School appoints Jonathan Slack to Advisory Board

The former Chief Executive of the Association of Business Schools (ABS) has been appointed to the Portsmouth Business School advisory board.
Jonathan Slack spent nearly two decades in the role as ABS Chief Executive. He also chaired EQUAL, the group of 19 European Associations which act as the think tank for EQUIS, the accreditation scheme for international business schools.
He has been centrally involved in the development of the National Subject Benchmarks on behalf of the UK Quality Assurance Agency for higher education, for undergraduate Honours degrees and also Masters degrees in business and management including the MBA.
Speaking about the new appointment, Jonathan said: “I am delighted to accept and look forward to joining fellow board members to help guide the Portsmouth Business School during an exciting and challenging time for UK higher education.”
Jonathan is a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute, the highest category of membership, which is awarded only to individuals who have a distinguished record of achievement in senior management, has judged the National Business Awards, served on several government committees and has chaired numerous conferences including recent pan European events in Moscow and Ljubljana.
Jonathan's background is in materials technology. He has worked in the construction industry, has taught in higher education and has a Masters degree in Education Studies from Jesus College, Oxford.
Dean of the Portsmouth Business School, Professor Gioia Pescetto, said: “Jonathan is a renowned businessman with a wealth of expertise and we are extremely pleased to welcome him on to the advisory board.”
