Message from the Dean

The world is changing and changing fast.  In order to keep abreast of the latest thinking, individuals and organisations are increasingly establishing relationships with universities in order to continue their professional development and gain competitive advantage.

The Portsmouth Business School is a full service school offering degree awards and executive education across most accounting, economics, finance, law, business and management disciplines. This wide range of full-time and part-time programmes is offered to students and professionals wanting to enhance their professional development at whatever stage of their career.

We have established strong links with business and built on our reputation for leading edge research - these activities feed directly into our teaching programmes making them relevant in today’s environment.

In the most recent National Student Survey, the University of Portsmouth achieved a score of 85 per cent for overall student satisfaction and this places us within the top 25 of all mainstream English universities.

In the broad Business and Administrative category (which includes business studies, marketing, human resource management, finance, accounting and hospitality management), we scored 89 per cent for overall student satisfaction, which is the best of any business school on the south coast. Within this category we scored 96 per cent for Finance (the highest of all English mainstream universities) and 96 per cent for Accounting (joint fourth). In other categories, we scored 90 per cent in Economics and 86 per cent in Law for overall student satisfaction.

I am very proud to be Dean of this Business School and the hard-working staff who diligently teach, undertake research and offer consultancy to organisations in the region. But most of all I am proud of the students and their achievements.
