Portsmouth Business School
The Role of the Placements Office
The Placements Office is the main point of contact for all business related work placement enquiries, whether they are from students or employers, and we welcome and encourage you to contact us for advice on any aspect relating to work placements.
The Placements Office does not act as a recruitment or matching agency. Students must apply themselves to any of the advertised vacancies they are interested in and follow each companies own recruitment process. However, the experienced team is always on hand to offer advice on everything from how to produce good quality applications through to what students can expect on a company assessment day.
Every year we advertise a huge variety of business related work placements to Portsmouth Business School students through the use of our virtual learning environment in addition to our physical notice boards here in the Business School (Richmond Building). We are always on the lookout for new placement opportunities and would encourage any interested companies to first read through our employers section of our website and then contact the Placements Office.
We start advertising placement vacancies at the beginning of each academic year (October) and continue to advertise vacancies right up until the end of August. However, the peak time for closing dates is just after the New Year, with around 50% of the total yearly placement vacancies closing during January and February. As a result it is no surprise that the number one piece of advice given by current placement students to perspective placement students is to apply early.
