Thesis summary

My research considers the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) within the context of Saudi Arabian process manufacturing sector. The aim of this study is to examine whether or not barriers to TQM implementation exist in practice in the Saudi process manufacturing sector and explore whether there are any extraordinary barriers to the implementation which are specific to this country. This is to achieve the main aim of this study, which is to develop a framework model specific to the Saudi process manufacturing sector, to help organisations implementing TQM in an advanced approach taking into consideration Islamic teaching. This study can be seen as a modest attempt to readdress the implementation of TQM in the Saudi Arabian process manufacturing sector by proposing possible frameworks to help organisations to overcome existing barriers to successful implementation of TQM in the country. It is to combine three main prospectors: TQM, Islamic teaching and Saudi Arabia. This will enable the development of a new Quality Model designed for process manufacturing companies within Muslim countries.
