Who we are

This academic group of approximately 28 members of staff develops talent with special management skills, knowledge and value for the future workforce. Staff in the group deliver excellent teaching and international standard research.

What we do

The Operations and Systems Management group offers a range of executive education, postgraduate and undergraduate programmes that can be studied full-time, part-time, in-campus, in-company or by distance learning.

Most of the programmes are either accredited by a professional body (such as MSc Project Management, accredited by the Association of Project Management, MSc Strategic Quality Management, MSc Leadership and Management, accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management) or by certification organisations such as Business Enterprise Systems – SAP University Alliance.

Reputation and Research

Research in the Operations and Systems Management group contributed significantly to the Portsmouth Business School’s research and knowledge service success. Most research outputs are consistently at international level. Operations and Systems Management staff are actively undertaking research projects that have created impact on industry and society at both national and global level.

Our strength lies in leading edge research into operational research, multi-criteria decision analysis, business logistics, business process innovation, organisational excellence, business analytics and business intelligence through developing and applying emerging techniques and technologies to business practice, based on new theoretical knowledge.
