Organisation Studies and Human Resource Management - our staff
Who we are
The Organisation Studies and Human Resource Management Subject Group has around 30 staff members with a wide range of academic knowledge whose teaching covers professional curricula (e.g. Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development), leadership (eg Institute of Leadership and Management), employment relations, ethics and organisational behaviour aspects of business and management. Over half our staff members have doctorates and the majority are research active.
What we do
We share our topic knowledge with students, co-researchers and those attending our short courses for business with enthusiasm. We take great care in enabling the application of knowledge; where theoretical ideas can be tried and examined critically to develop students’ judgement and awareness of the dynamics and the role of different stakeholders within a complex environment. Seminars provide opportunities for students to test their knowledge and skills and re-examine their attitudes in order to equip them to work in the multicultural and diverse world of the future.
Reputation and Research
As a Subject Group we are highly active within our global academic communities producing research and conceptual papers, attending and speaking at international and national conferences and high-level events in our specialist fields.
Our staff publish in leading academic journals and contribute to research-related books as well as supervise doctoral students all of which increases academic knowledge in the global community. The Subject Group is unusual in that we co-author many leading business text books that integrate expert knowledge with excellent learning features for students. Text books produced by our staff cover human resource management, employment relations, research methods and organisational behaviour as well as highly specialist topics.
We welcome Phd research applications from anyone who has an interest in any of the areas above. Please contact us by email to discuss your research ideas and research proposals.
