Academic Registrar's Office

  • Plans and manages Graduation Ceremonies
  • Manages the Student Complaints process
  • Maintains and disseminates information about the University term and semester dates

Academic Management Information Division

  • Co-ordinates standard usage of the Student Record System
  • Prints all degree certificates and maintains the process for notification of recommendation of awards from Boards of Examiners
  • Provides an official transcript service for overseas students

Admissions Division

  • Processes and distributes all application forms across the University
  • Monitors the quality and integrity of data held in the Admissions database
  • Designs and ensures correct usage of the University's application forms
  • Organises the confirmation and clearing activities
  • Controls the University link with UCAS and GTTR
  • Makes offers to international applicants
  • Maintains all course information and entry requirements published on the University and UCAS website
  • Maintains a definitive set of qualification equivalents to be used when considering applications
  • Acts as a countersignatory for Criminal Record Bureau disclosure requests

Student Administration Division

  • Maintains the tuition fee schedule
  • University point of contact with the Student Loans Company
  • Invoices for tuition fees
  • Defines registration processes and procedures for the University
  • Maintains and disseminates information about additional charges for students
  • Co-ordinates registration activities
  • Designs and ensures correct usage of the University registration forms for students
  • Administers bursaries through the Student Loans Company's 'Higher Education Bursary and Scholarship Scheme' (HEBSS)

Quality Management Division

  • Maintains assessment and other academic regulations, facilitating their correct application across the University through staff development, advice, and participation in Boards of Examiners
  • Supports the management of collaborative programme links through maintaining the definitive register of such links, invoicing for fees due, supporting the quality management of collaborative provision, supporting the contract formulation process, maintaining a partner contact network and direct liaison with partner institutions
  • Supports quality assurance through fulfilling the institutional facilitator role and supporting departments through the Periodic Review process both through the provision of advice and participation in the review teams
  • Services the operation of the Criminal Convictions Panel
  • Supports the Course Approval Process maintaining definitive records of the process
  • Maintains a definitive register of all awards made by the University
  • Services the student disciplinary process for both assessment offences and general student misconduct by maintaining regulations, raising awareness of the process, servicing panels, corresponding with students, advising departments on procedures and requirements
  • Services the processes for students appealing against academic decisions by maintaining regulations, raising awareness of the process, servicing panels, corresponding with students, advising departments on procedures and requirements
  • Services the processes for student complaint mechanisms by maintaining regulations, raising awareness of the process, servicing panels, corresponding with students, advising departments on procedures and requirements
  • Services the process for the appointment of external examiners by maintaining regulations and procedures, raising awareness, keeping a database of appointments, acting as the official point of receipt report, organising and delivering an induction process for external examiners, advising departments on procedures and requirements, and writing letters of appointment
  • Acts as the Data Protection Officer and Freedom of Information Officer for the University
  • Services the Academic Council, its sub-committees and University Research Degrees Committee
  • Provides support for research student administration particularly in admission, registration, progression, examination and quality assurance.
  • Maintains the University's definitive register for Collaborative Partnerships, Memorande activity, Professional Statutory and Regulatory body, External Examiners and approval and review cycle.
