Partner Staff

Welcome to the Collaborative Programmes Office (CPO) webpage for all our partner staff. We know how important it is for you to have support from the University of Portsmouth in delivering and supporting your programmes. CPO provide a strategic and operational focus for the management of collaborative programmes and is your central point of contact for staff development activities. Partner Associate Lecturer (PAL)

All staff at partner institutions who deliver and/or support our collaborative programmes will be approved as a Partner Associate Lecturer (PAL). Once approved as a PAL, partner staff will be able to access online library services, staff devlopment events, receive Oracle the bi-annual electronic newsletter.

The aims and benefits of being a PAL are:

  • to provide University recognition of partner academic staff that they are appropriately qualified and experienced to deliver/support specified units on the collaborative programme
  • to enable PALs to gain access to the University’s online library services
  • to enable PALs to attend the University’s academic staff development activities
  • to enable the University to centrally record PALs on QUPID and provide the means to enable the University to communicate directly with PALs
  • to enable PALs on franchised programmes to gain access to the University’s virtual learning environment (VLE).
  • to enable PALs to receive the bi-annual collaborative newsletter Oracle

Moodle (VLE) access for franchised programmes

Moodle is the University's virtual learning environment (VLE). Students studying on franchised (programmes delivered both at the University and the Partner) collaboraive programmes  will have access to course materials, reading lists, discussion forums and blogs, as well as other useful resources, for the same programme delivered at Portsmouth. As a PAL delivering or supporting franchised programmes you are able to register for a Moodle account also. If you wish to register for a Moodle account please contact your University Academic Contact who will organise this through our e-Learning Centre.

Staff Development

CPO provides information and staff development opportunities for University and partner staff which includes an annual Induction Event, Board of Examiners training and specific events relating to quality assurance. Further details of the staff development activities can be found on the Events section.

As well as events offered by CPO, the University’s Department for Curriculum and Quality Enhancement also provide academic seminars and workshops, consultancy services, professional development events and advice and a range of other activities. Further details can be found on the Collaborative Partners webpage. The University Library also supports Librarians and Learning Resources Managers, and you can contact Sue Stevenson for more information.

Contacts

Key contacts that you will have close links with are the University Academic Contact, University Administrative Contact and the Associate Dean (Academic), which are located within the University academic departments.

The University Academic Contact will be your first point of contact for the day to day management of your provision and all academic issues, and the University Administrative Contact is responsible for the day to day course management administration activities.

The Associate Dean (Academic) provides a advisory and support role on quality assurance and enhancement matters, and will work with yourself and the University Academic Contact to ensure the maintenance of standards, the quality of course delivery, student experience communication systems are robust.

The University Academic Contact and the Associate Dean (Academic) also work closely with the Collaborative Programmes Office in the approval, monitoring and review of the provision. These contacts will work closely with you to ensure the smooth delivery, management and maintenance of your provision.
