Flexible Curriculum Approval Process
This covers the approval process for Credit Bearing Short Courses, Non-Credit Bearing Short Courses, Continuing Professional Development courses and Short Courses to be offered through a collaborative partnership. The process does not cover standard award-bearing distance learning courses or non-credit bearing short courses offered by a University professional service.
Before submitting a proposal to Faculty Executive, it is important to
consult with staff, both in your own Faculty and in Market Research, about the potential market for this proposal
consider attending a workshop on course development and course approval which are held twice a year (see Academic Events)
start to prepare details that you will need to include in your proposal in order for it to be effectively marketed (for example, JAC codes and admissions information)
liaise with your Associate Dean (Academic) and/or Faculty Validation Officer (or equivalent) regarding timelines for the process, including the first formal step of gaining Faculty Executive support
seek advice from your Associate Dean (Academic), DCQE and academic colleagues on designing assessments, choosing appropriate learning and teaching strategies, research informed teaching
involve students, alumni and other relevant stakeholders (for example, external professionals and representatives of relevant industries) in the design process
