Periodic Programme Review

As part of the University of Portsmouth's comprehensive Programme Monitoring and Review processes, all courses accredited by us including those with partner institutions undergo Periodic Programme Review which takes place approximately every six years.  The purpose of periodic review is to provide confirmation at programme level of the curriculum's continued fitness of purpose and that annual monitoring and review processes are being effective.  In broad terms this means: are we providing appropriate courses to meet the needs of students, employers, professional bodies and others and do those courses provide a good learning experience. The review panel is independent from the provision and includes one or more external subject specialists.  Evidence is drawn from a range of documentation including annual reports from External Examiners and data on recent student achievement.   Students have a key role in the process and the review panel meet with a group of representative students during the event.  All reports, together with an action plan are forwarded to our central Quality Assurance Committee and monitored through the provisions annual reporting mechanisms.

The Programme Monitoring and Review Policy, Procedure and Guidelines document is available at http://www.port.ac.uk/reviewcycle
