External Examiners
All courses at the University of Portsmouth have an External Examiner. The role of an External Examiner is primarily one of quality assurance, ensuring that procedures and processes allow students to gain an appropriate outcome from their studies, and which is consistent with outcomes at other universities. External Examiners achieve this by sampling and commenting on evidence from courses offered by the University, in the expectation that the University will act on their comments. External Examiners will not endorse or alter individual marks or the decisions of properly constituted Boards of Examiners or Unit Assessment Boards in relation to individual students.
You can download the External Examiner Policy here. If you wish to receive any External Examiner report, please use our Further Information Request Form.
