Notification on how to complete the Registration processes
To complete the process of becoming a student at the University of Portsmouth it is necessary for you to register onto your course. Your successful registration will enable the payment of any student loans you may have applied for on the due date. This process can be carried out now; steps 1 to 3 will need to be undertaken before you start your course, and step 4 either prior to or at the start of term.
Step 1 – Get your username and password
Visit www.port.ac.uk/studentaccount to retrieve your University computer username and password. You will be asked for your Student ID Number and date of birth. Following the successful retrieval of your computer account you can access your student Google email, Myport and other essential IT services by going to www.port.ac.uk/students.
If you are returning to the University after completing a course without any study break, and you have been allocated an account in the past, you do not need to complete this step.
Step 2 – Apply for your Campus Card
Once you have your student account details you should apply for your Campus Card by completing the form at www.port.ac.uk/campuscardapplication; this will allow you to access University buildings and services. If you are not studying on-site you may not wish to apply for a Campus Card. However, if you wish to use the library’s facilities you will need a Campus Card. Step 4 explains how you can collect your Campus Card.
If you are returning to the University after completing a course, you do not need to complete this step, as we already hold your photo ID. To obtain a new Campus Card you will need to visit the Campus Card Office which will be located in the Spinnaker Sports Hall, seminar room, for the period Monday 20 August 2012 to Friday 19 October 2012 inclusive.
Step 3 – Register onto your course
Next register onto your course at www.port.ac.uk/register; follow the instructions to commence your registration.
If you are returning to the University after completing a previous course, you are required to complete this step.
When you have applied for your Campus Card and completed your registration, check your student Google email to receive confirmation that you have successfully submitted both forms.
Step 4 – Personal identification (ID) check
On-campus students
When you arrive at Portsmouth you will be required to produce personal identification (ID); this can be a passport or driving licence with photograph. Your Faculty will advise you during your first week’s activities with the time and venue for you to show us your ID.
You will not be fully registered on your course until your ID has been seen.
If you have applied for your Campus Card you will be able to collect it at the point where your ID is checked.
Off-campus students
You are required to produce personal identification (ID) and evidence of your course entry qualifications. Please email this documentation to your Department/School, if this information has not already been provided.
You will not be fully registered on your course until your ID and qualifications have been evidenced.
If you have applied for a Campus Card your Department/School will send it to you when you have registered onto your course and they have received evidence of your ID and qualifications.
That’s it!
