Alumni and Development
Polytechnic Alumni – come and celebrate Christmas in the city!

The Alumni Association would like to invite Portsmouth Polytechnic graduates to celebrate Christmas in the city from 2.00pm on Saturday 1st December.
And as our Christmas gift to you we have decided to make the event completely free!
All we need to do now is finalise numbers so please complete the booking form below, before Friday 23rd November, to confirm your place. The form allows you to book places for up to 10 guests so please make sure you list all friends and family.
If you’re visiting for the whole weekend please see the notes below to help you plan your stay.
Accommodation
The Visit Portsmouth website lists all hotels, guest houses, bed and breakfast and self-catering accommodation so we’re sure you’ll find something to meet your needs.
Unfortunately we cannot offer accommodation in halls of residence because the event is taking place during term-time.
Food and drink
Although we’ll be giving you a nice glass of mulled wine and some Christmas nibbles we’re sure you’ll want to go out for dinner afterwards. A list of restaurants in Portsmouth can also be found on the Visit Portsmouth website. There’s plenty of choice so we’re sure you’ll find something you like. Please do ask us on the day if you would like any recommendations - although we’re likely to say you still can’t beat a good old curry house on Albert Road!
Things to do
Gunwharf Quays is home to 90 designer shopping outlets and 30 bars and restaurants – perfect for a morning’s Christmas shopping and a nice bite to eat.
There is a Victorian Festival of Christmas and a Christmas market at the Historic Dockyard the very same weekend as our reunion.
The Spinnaker Tower offers a stunning viewing experience. It stands 170 metres high and offers panoramic views of Portsmouth Harbour, the South coast and the Isle of Wight, with views stretching out for up to 23 miles.
There is plenty more to see and do in Portsmouth so please don’t hesitate to ask the alumni team if you would like any advice.
We look forward to meeting you on the 1st December!
Here's a video of Portsmouth back in 1983. We hope it whets your appetite to come and reminisce with old friends and former staff on the 1st December.
