APEX Senior Fellowship Pathway (D3)
Leadership and Mentoring Professional Development
The Senior Fellowship Pathway to Descriptor 3 of the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and supporting learning in Higher Education (UKPSF) is for highly experienced academic staff with a considerable level of scholarly and professional expertise, developed over time, in supporting high quality student learning in all dimensions of the UKPSF. Relevant experience will have been gained through the use of a range of approaches including, mentoring, coordinating, supervising and managing individuals and groups. Individuals will need to be able to evidence a sustained and successful engagement with the UKPSF.
As participants of the Senior Fellowship Pathway, you will explore and articulate:
- How their professionalism, leadership, research and scholarship has enabled their impact, sustained success and influence on the coordination, support, supervision, management and/or mentoring of others in relation to the areas of activity within the UKPSF relevant to their role
- How their practice takes account of the broader context within which it is situated, including relevant quality assurance guidelines, professional body, industry and employer requirements, and sector, institutional and departmental strategic priorities including the University’s Education Strategy and the development of the Portsmouth Graduate
In order to meet the needs of staff with a wide range of prior experience we offer both developmental and direct routes to Descriptor 3. Individuals may apply for the D3 Pathway, providing their application is supported by their line manager and Head of Department. Additionally Heads of Department may nominate individuals to attend the programme.
