Department for Curriculum and Quality Enhancement

Part Time and Hourly Paid Academic Staff

Media_own25The University expects continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities to be available to all categories of its staff, including those who are part time and hourly paid. The University recognises that its efficient functioning depends upon the appropriate level of support and provision of CPD activities for the needs of all staff at all levels, both full-time and part-time.

Staff development is most effective when the individual member of staff takes responsibility for his/her own development and takes an active part in its planning and evaluation. Staff will be encouraged to become involved not only in professional development activities, but also to participate in the design and delivery of such activities.

This section focuses on support for part time and hourly paid academic staff as well as those who have difficulty in attending the range of professional development activities, arranged and provided by the Academic Development section of DCQE, in fulfilling the expectations of each individual’s CPD. The professional development self-study guide, as well the learning and teaching guidance sections, have been developed to maximise each individual’s opportunity to participate in self-defined individualised ways.
