Wimba

The Wimba suite consists of three main tools: Wimba Create, Wimba Live Classroom and Wimba Voice Tools. Appropriate use of these tools can add richness and variety to your learning materials. You can find a variety of help and further information by following the links below, but if you need further support with the Wimba suite contact the TEL team at elearn@port.ac.uk.

Wimba Create

Wimba Create is a plugin to Microsoft Word that allows you to create and publish materials for importing into Moodle and Victory. With Wimba Create you can add quizzes, interactions, audio, video, and even custom HTML. Download the following PDF files for further information:

Wimba Voice Tools

Wimba Voice Tools can be used, from within Victory only, to add audio into your materials. Tools such as Voice Email and Voice Discussion can be used to enhance your students' understanding of your materials.

Wimba Live Classroom

Wimba Live Classroom, available via Victory only, is a full-featured conferencing system aimed at Lecturer-to-Student interaction. Live Classroom allows for audio / video / text communication with onscreen PowerPoint shows. You can also use opinion polls, desktop sharing and a telephone system for those without speakers or microphones. This is an excellent tool for distance presentations as all interactions can be recorded for later review.
