The TEL team has upgraded Moodle to the latest version (2.3.1) in time for the start of the new academic year. Academic staff using Moodle to edit their courses will notice a few changes and improvements.

Perhaps the most noticeable change is that the *add a resource* and *add an activity* links have been amalgamated into a single button. When clicked, it now displays all the items in one list. When an item is selected, Moodle displays a brief description of that particular tool.

A completely new feature in Moodle 2.3.1 is the ability to upload files using drag-and-drop. This should prove to be a real time-saver! Two other notable new features are the ability to edit item titles directly in the main view window (without having to click the spanner icon and edit the entire session) and the option to change from the heavy list format to the condensed topic format.

For further information on these and other new features in Moodle 2.3.1, and how best to use them, please contact the TEL team or visit the Moodle Community unit.
