Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES/UPPRES)

student with booksThe Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) is a nationwide UK survey of research degree students, organised by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) that takes place every two years.

The last national PRES survey was in 2015 in which 130 higher education institutions took part. To provide data in the years when the PRES survey does not run, the University of Portsmouth produces an internal version of the PRES, ‘UPPRES’, that includes many of the key questions from the HEA PRES. In April and May 2016, the University of Portsmouth conducted an internal UPPRES survey, using the same questions as in PRES 2015 (staff of the University can find more information on the intranet pages).

In 2017 the University is taking part in the national PRES survey again, along with over 130 higher education institutions. The PRES 2017 survey was launched on 4th April 2017 and runs until May 2017. A briefing note 'Results from UPPRES 2016 and Introduction to PRES 2017' is available here.

If you require further information about the results of UPPRES 2016, or the next national PRES 2017 survey, please contact Dr Darren Van Laar (darren.van.laar@port.ac.uk).
