ePortfolios

student at computer An ePortfolio serves three purposes: it helps students with the learning process; allows them to articulate how they have developed during their course; and provides a location in which they can showcase examples of their academic work and their CV to chosen target audiences.

The University is required to offer all students opportunities for personal development - an ePortfolio is a practical way of managing and demonstrating that development.

The Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team have set up an ePortfolio tool within Victory, the University's online learning environment, to which all students have access once a request has been made by their course leader or tutor. The TEL team can assist tutors in setting up an ePortfolio for their students while online course developers within faculties can provide support to students in how to use it.

The TEL team are conscious that technological developments are gathering pace and that an increasing number of educational tools offer ePortfolio functionality. During 2011 we will be investigating and evaluating new tools in this area. If you have worked with ePortfolio tools outside Victory and would like to share your experiences, we would like to hear from you.

If you would like to know more about ePortfolios, please contact the TEL team (elearn@port.ac.uk).
