Equality and Diversity

eLearning Resource

It is important that staff are aware of their rights, responsibilities and expectations around equality and diversity as a member of staff at the University. For example, did you know that since 2010 there are nine protected characteristics that are covered by law within the Equality Act 2010?. These are age, disability, gender reassignment,marriage/civil partnership, pregancy/maternity, race, religion/faith, sex and sexual orientation.

All staff are encouraged to complete the e-learning equality and diversity package within the first month of joining the University. Managers should encourage their staff to complete the training as part staff induction or through staff development discussions in annual appraisals.

Staff should request access to the training materials by emailing steve.miller@port.ac.uk.  You will then been be sent an email invitation to undertake the training along with log-on details.

This is an easy way to find out about diversity and what it might mean for you as either a manager or other member of staff. You can log in and out of the training at anytime and complete the package at your own pace. You are also able to refer back to the content at anytime.

The content is updated all the time as changes are made to the law.

If you have already registered you can log-on to the training here.
