Did you know...

• 3 in 5 people say there is still public prejudice against LGB people in Britain today (Stonewall Living Together Report 2012)
• 4 out of 5 believe it is right to tackle prejudice against LGB people (Stonewall Living Together Report 2012)
• 2.4m people of working age have witnessed verbal homophobic bullying at work (Stonewall Living Together Report 2012)
• Just over a third of LGB staff across the HE sector are out to everyone (ECU LGBT Research Report 2009)
• In the last University staff survey (2009) 91% of those who took part declared their sexual orientation, 4% of those identified as LGB
• LGBT History month is celebrated every February
• The majority of LGB students are out to their university friends, but almost two-thirds are not out to tutors or lectures for fear of discrimination (ECU LGBT Research Report 2009) 
• 15% of LGB students fear losing financial support if they come out to their parents (ECU LGBT Research Report 2009)
• Students value lectures being out in the classroom and, where appropriate, using LGBT examples or materials. This gives students the confidence that the institution respects LGBT equality (ECU LGBT Research Report 2009)
