Women's Staff Network

 

A newly established network for women across the University has now been established.

The Women’s Staff Network exists to offer the opportunity for all women, the development of policy and procedure as well as enabling staff to come together, network, offer mutual support and discuss issues that matter to them.

 

We have the following aims:

  • Raising awareness of Women's equality in the workplace
  • Supporting the career development of Women
  • Providing strategic advice and guidance to the organisation on issues affecting women in the workplace 
  • Promoting the organisation as a female friendly organisation
  • Network both socially and professionally

 

With support of staff involved in the Aurora and Springboard programmes we will soon be relaunching the Womens Forum. In the meantime please contact Equality & Divesity Team should you require any further information regarding the forum.

International Women’s Day Lecture

Women and Violence: the local and the global

A public lecture by Dr Tamsin Bradley, Reader in International Development Studies, University of Portsmouth

 

Ending ‘Violence against Women and Girls’ (VAWG) is critical in achieving gender equality. In this lecture Dr Bradley will map the why, how and where of different forms of violence against women and girls, outline the main global programmes designed to end it and offer local examples of how these programmes are playing out in specific contexts across the world.
