Car parking spaces
The University’s parking spaces are marked by colour coded lines or have A4 posts which indicate as follows:
- White – Standard
- Yellow and Blue – Disabled
- Green – Faculty only
- Orange – Maintenance
- A4 posts – Reserved spaces for visitors on University business (these are located in designated car parks only)
Who can park where?
Standard: All permit holders are allowed to park in any standard White bay within the University regardless of what type of permit they hold.
Disabled: Only disabled badge holders can park in Yellow and Blue disabled bays. They must also display their Blue Badge.
Faculty: Green faculty bays may only be used by faculty permit holders. Authorisation for these permits are at the discretion of Faculty Heads and cannot be issued without their permission.
Maintenance: these bays are time limited and for the use of Orange badge holders only.
Reserved: these bays are for the sole use of visitors on business only – the University has centralised visiting bays in three main areas on the campus, that is, in the car parks at:
- Anglesea (rear)
- Ravelin New
- St. Andrew’s Court
Other parking provision in Portsmouth
Gunwharf Quays car park
Car parking at Gunwharf Quays is available for University campus card holders at a reduced rate of £4 per day. This arrangement is during school term times only.
Concessions can be claimed by visiting the Gunwharf Car Parking Office immediately upon arrival. On completion of an application form, you will be issued with a top-up card to be used in the Gunwharf parking machine. You will have the option to top up how much you require in advance or just use for one day.
Isambard Brunel multi-storey car park
The pay-as-you-go Park-it Card offers city centre parking for just over £3 per day (for 8 hours). The Park-it Card gives users £220 of credit in the Isambard Brunel multi-storey car park, behind the Guildhall Square, when they top up £80. That’s £140 worth of free parking credit that can be used at the driver’s convenience.
