Academic Dress

The graduation ceremony is a formal occasion and you are required to wear academic dress which can be obtained from J. Wippell & Co Ltd. Students without academic dress will not be able to graduate.

Gowns, hoods and hats are available for all courses with the exception of the following:

  • Certificate in Education students only need order a gown and hat
  • RIBA Part 3 - academic dress is not available - we recommend that you wear a dark suit

Please complete the online form by 30 June 2012. Your academic dress will be available on the day of your ceremony and should be collected and returned to the Spinnaker Sports Centre no later than 6 pm.

Graduation is a formal academic occasion and you will be expected to dress smartly and in accordance with the formality of the occasion. Where appropriate, military or emergency services uniform, or national dress can be worn with academic dress.

Please note that the University reserves the right to prevent graduands from participating in the ceremony if they are unsuitably dressed.
