Leisure

With four miles of coastline, offering fantastic views of the unrivalled sailing waters of The Solent, flanked by open spaces, parks and gardens, and more sunshine hours than most other places, Southsea is one of the most beautiful seafront environments anywhere in the UK. All this - and Hampshire's rolling countryside is just off the island.

The Solent provides the ideal location for watersports such as sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing, and at only 85 minutes from London, and within easy reach of Heathrow, Gatwick and Southampton airports, Portsmouth has excellent connections with other South Coast towns, the Isle of Wight, France and Spain.

Going Out The City offers a diverse range of nightlife from pubs and bars, to cafes and restaurants, to clubs and events, with a strong cosmopolitan feel to the city.

Portsmouth Guildhall features regular bands, comedy acts and orchestral concerts, whilst two theatres feature a wide variety of productions throughout the year and a number of smaller clubs regularly feature local bands and alternative entertainment.

Just ten minutes walk from the Guildhall, Gunwharf Quays features designer outlets, bars and restaurants, bowling and a multi-screen cinema, making a great night-time venue.

The City also offers two main shopping areas with a large shopping centre and regular street markets, plus specialist shops and restaurants that cater for all tastes in food, fashion and music.
