The main areas of health and safety law relevant to chemicals used in the University of Portsmouth are:
- Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2009
- Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) 2002
- Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) 2002 – Information about the substances covered by the regulations, such as flammable, explosive and oxidising materials
- EH40/2005 Workplace exposure limits
- The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974
- Lead at Work Regulations 2002
- Management of health and safety at work. Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. Approved Code of Practice and guidance
- Radioactive Substances Act 1993
