Legislation

The main areas of health and safety law relevant to compressed gasses used in the University of Portsmouth are:

  • Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2009
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) 2002
  • Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) 2002 – Information about the substances covered by the regulations, such as flammable, explosive and oxidising materials
  • EH40/2005 Workplace exposure limits
  • The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974
  • Management of health and safety at work. Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. Approved Code of Practice and guidance
