University of Portsmouth - Core Training

The following lists encompass core training which the University of Portsmouth requires managers and staff to complete, ideally during the probationary period or within the first year of taking up a role. Your manager will discuss this with you during your induction meetings and your completion of the training will be recorded on the HR System, which you will be able to access via Employee Self Service. Some elements are provided through e-learning, online resources, focus groups, workshops and events. Links to further information are provided below.

The University’s PDR scheme is mandatory for all staff and should be conducted on an annual basis. As part of this scheme, reviewers will be expected to ensure that their reviewees have undertaken all core training relevant to their role. Please see the PDR guidance for further information.

The HR Department will circulate to Deans, Heads of Department or equivalent, Faculty Managers and Heads of Professional Services on an annual basis the take-up and completion of core training activities of all staff in their areas.
