Target Audience

Outline

To increase staff awareness of the importance of looking after the information held in the University;  how to handle, protect and store all types of electronic and hard copy information including the legislative requirements for information handling.

 

The aims of the workshop are:

  • To raise awareness of the types of information held by the University and the best ways to store and maintain information.
  • To explain how the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 impact the way we process information within the University.
  • To show how to protect the electronic information and information systems within the University.

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • To increase attendees’ understanding of the importance of information to the University
  • To provide a greater awareness of the need to manage records effectively
  • To familiarise attendees with the relevant information governance legislation and its impact on our work
  • To provide a basic understanding of the importance of information security and the contribution individuals can make to that.

3 x 45 minute presentations over the course of the morning
