Investigation Skills
Target Audience
Any member of UoP staff who currently has people management or supervisory elements to their role.
Outline:
This workshop, which supports the newly developed Investigation Guidelines, will focus on the processes and skills required for carrying out effective investigations in a range of contexts that includes, but is not limited to, the following policies: Grievance, Disciplinary, Occupational Performance and Anti-Bullying & Harassment.
The aims of the workshop are:
- Provide a framework/process for carrying out effective investigations.
- Develop analytical skills to ascertain all necessary information.
- Demonstrate key methods of recording information received.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the session delegates will have:
- A greater awareness and understanding of which University Policies require investigative processes and skills.
- A clear understanding of how to carry out a successful investigation.
- Developed valuable questionning skills and methods.
- Developed their ability to gather, analyse and present the evidence clearly and concisely, listening and summarising verbally as well as on paper.
- A greater awareness of the impact of poorly executed investigations in the University.
Pre-event Preparation
Participants will derive maximum benefit from this training where they have read the Investigation Guidelines prior to attending.
Format
This workshop will be highly interactive, combining group work, case studies and practical exercises.
Presenter
Jocelyn Hughes of The In-House Training Company, is a highly experienced and very popular management trainer. A strong advoctate of 'training for a reason', Jocelyn has a practical approach to training which focuses on giving participants and organisations relevant knowledge and skills improvement which is immediately transferable to the workplace.
