Project Management
Target Audience
Staff who are currently or shortly will be managing projects and seeking to understand the fundamentals of good project management.
Outline
Delegates will have the opportunity to work through a project management approach which will enable them to utilise a proven framework, identify project objectives, clear success criteria and their role within the project. It will also provide them with the tools and techniques to manage, monitor, control and close projects successfully in the future.
The aims of the workshop are:
To impart some basic principles of standard project management practice and give course attendees a simple framework to work with which allows them to build upon and further develop project management skills going forward.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understanding of the need for a consistent approach to project management accross the university.
- The ability to use some of the project management tools and techniques on projects as well as day to day work.
- The ability to deal with common project management problems.
Pre-event Preparation
No preparatory work as such but a series of 7 emails will be sent to attendees both before and after the event to support their learning.
Format
The day will be a mix of:
- Individual activities
- Case studies
- Group work
- Discussions
Presenter
Ron Rosenhead, The Project Agency; Ron has worked in the project and change management field for many years. He is passionate about project management and formed Project Agency in 1995. Since then, he has written articles and spoken at conferences and run many project management events for a vast array of organisations.
