Risk Management
Target Audience
All are welcome - and perhaps particularly those with management responsibilities, such as Heads of Departments or Services, who have specific responsibility with respect to risk assessment and management.
Outline
Introduction to the Risk Management Policy, the Risk Register and an update on the University's current approach to the assessment and management of risk, including:
- What does HEFCE expect?
- What do we have to do?
- What it means for Faculties, Departments and Services?
- What is good practice?
- How can we embed risk management?
- What are the risks of risk management?
The aims of the workshop are:
- To raise awareness and understanding of Risk Management in the University and of the external drivers which require us to address Risk explicitly.
- To encourage attendees to think through how risk management can/should be embedded in their local areas and how to effect that.
Learning outcomes:
To have an understanding of risk as a key external driver that impacts on the HE sector, its consequent impact on all of our work, and how to manage that.
Pre-event Preparation:
Before coming to the session, those attending should think through the following:
- In doing your job, what key thing(s) are you trying to achieve/deliver?
- What are the risks/threats/obstacles that could prevent you from achieving/delivering?
- What mitigating actions could you take to minimise those risks/threats/obstacles?
Format
Presentation plus scenario work on practical application.
