Initial and Continuing Professional Development (ICPD) Policy

The Initial and Continuing Professional Development Policy outlines:

  • the purpose and importance of professional development;
  • the entitlement and responsibilities for professional development;
  • the identification of professional  development needs and professional development planning;
  • the criteria for success, including the monitoring and evaluation of professional development.

The ICPD Policy  recognises continuing professional development (CPD) in the widest sense, to include mentoring, self-directed learning, experiential learning, job shadowing, exchanges and conferences in addition to scholarship and course-based learning.
