Welcome to Creative Partnerships at the University of Portsmouth
Creative Partnerships was the government's flagship creative learning programme which promoted greater creativity in schools by bringing in creative professionals to work with children and teachers on original projects and ideas within the curriculum. It used artists, performers, architects, multimedia developers and scientists to develop innovative ways of teaching and learning.
The aim of the scheme was to inspire young people, teachers and creative professionals to challenge how they work and experiment with new ideas. The skills they develop help them to perform well in their achievements which develop them in the workplace and wider society. From 2009 – 2011 Creative Partnerships (Southampton, Portsmouth and Hampshire) was hosted by a team at the University of Portsmouth and over 46 schools across the region participated in the programme creating some extraordinary work and outputs.
Funding for the national programme was withdrawn in July 2011, however the legacy of the programme still continues in a number of ways. Embedded in the participating schools themselves, through a series of bursary projects and celebrated as part of the Dysarticulate project (www.dysarticulatedschools.org).
If you were ever involved in the work of Creative Partnerships, keep the network alive on the new website at www.cp-hampshire.net.
