The Marketing and Communications department currently maintain the following the following official social media networks:

University of Portsmouth official Facebook page – this is aimed mainly at potential students although current students and alumni use it as well. The page has 7,376 ‘likes’ and is monitored Monday-Friday during office hours and we endeavour to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours. More.

University of Portsmouth alumni Facebook page - this is aimed at our alumni. The page has 1,061 ‘likes’ and is monitored Monday-Friday during office hours and we endeavour to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours. More.

University of Portsmouth Your Portsmouth blog and Facebook page - this is aimed at applicants intending to come to Portsmouth and is part of the ‘Freshers’ communications which support arrival and induction. The page had 2,274 ‘likes’ last year and is monitored Monday-Friday during office hours in the period between May and induction period in September and we endeavour to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours. University blogs platform – Corporate Communications administer a set of student blog accounts on our Wordpress installation at www.port.ac.uk/studentblogs. The Press and PR team are also working with academics encouraging some academics with newsworthy research to blog regularly. More.

Twitter feed - this is aimed mainly at our external audiences but our current students and staff also follow us. Our Twitter presence has 7,003 followers. The Press and PR team use this to communicate our news, events and achievements and Corporate Communications use it to answer queries and for crisis communications. The stream is monitored Monday-Friday during office hours and we endeavour to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours. More.

The University of Portsmouth YouTube channel – this page is managed by Corporate Communications and as of March 2012, we only had 23 videos uploaded but more videos will be added from our Asset Bank and ‘Play’ site.

News Site – Corporate Communications are soon to launch a News site www.port.ac.uk/uopnews which will feed the UoP homepage, student and staff webpages with news. The site will be managed jointly between PR and Corporate Communications and will contain all of our news information for our external audiences, current students and staff.

The University of Portsmouth Flickr account – this page is managed by Corporate Communications and the Press and PR team. We will be adding more sets of photographs for potential students and other external audiences to view. Visitors will not be able to download our University photography due to copyright and consent restrictions.

The University of Portsmouth LinkedIn account – our official LinkedIn account has 4,810 followers and is administered by the Alumni team in Marketing Campaigns.
