Thank you for your support
Many of you will have received a call in November as part of our Annual Fund telephone campaign. We would like to say “thank you” to all of you for the overwhelming support the campaign received. We are delighted to announce that you have pledged just over £70,000 towards the student hardship support area of our Annual Fund.
The campaign was manned by our fabulous students who thoroughly enjoyed talking to you all about your time at Portsmouth and what you have done since leaving.
Rachael Job, third year Journalism and English Language student and Telephone Fundraiser, explains “I really enjoyed being a telephone fundraiser because I was able to speak to a whole range of people. The advice and tips that were given to me were overwhelming and just listening to the different routes that the alumni have gone down has given me lots of new career ideas. I also enjoyed fundraising for such a good cause".
The Annual Fund aims to provide more support for students who find themselves struggling to pay for things like course resources and living expenses. The fund will also provide support for postgraduate students, who currently have very limited access to funds of this type.
Although the University is currently able to provide some funding for hardship, thanks to your support, we can work further towards ensuring that no student has to leave their course for financial reasons. This means that more of our students will be able to make the most of all of the opportunities offered by university life, helping them to reach their potential.
We hope to speak to many of more of you later this year when we run our second telephone campaign, in the meantime if you would like more information about the fund, please visit www.port.ac.uk/supportus
