Students from Colombia are eligible to receive our PassPort Bursary.  The PassPort Bursary gives privately-funded students a 10% tuition fee reduction for their first year of study at Portsmouth.  It applies to all degree courses with fees of £10,500 and above.  You do not need to apply for the PassPort Bursary - eligible applicants will be awarded automatically.

We are happy to consider overseas applications on a case by case basis.  As a general guide:

Foundation

Students taking the Bachillerato (Secondary School Certificates) such as Título de Bachiller Académico or Título de Bachiller Técnico, will usually be required to do a Foundation year before progressing to their undergraduate studies. Our Engineering foundation BEng (Hons) Engineering and Technology is delivered in our Faculty of Technology. Foundation programmes in all other subjects are delivered by our pathway provider, International College Portsmouth (ICP):

Undergraduate

The undergraduate minimum entry requirements for students with Colombian qualifications are:

• Students who have successfully completed the first year at a recognised University may be exempt from Foundation programme and considered for admissions to year 1 of the Bachelors degree, if relevant subjects have been studied and strong grades achieved - minimum grades of 3.5 – 4.0, or
• Students who have completed the 2.5 - 3 years Tecnólogo Especializado with GPA 70% and above or minimum grades of 3.5 – 4.0, or
• Good UK A-level Grades (This will be based on UCAS tariff point equivalency, including subject specific requirements where appropriate), or
• Between 24 and 31 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB), depending on the programme applied for.

Postgraduate

• Applicants with Licenciado (4 years of study), a Pregrado or Título Profesional (Bachelors degree standard) from a recognised higher education institution will be considered for Masters entry. Typical minimum GPA requirements from Colombian universities are GPA 3.5 (equivalent to a UK second-class honours degree) to 4.0 (equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree). Grading on a 1-5 scale.

Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the degree applied for.  Pre-master programmes are available at ICP International College Portsmouth (ICP) for a number of courses.

English Language requirements:

We accept IELTS, TOEFL, IGCSE  and several other certificates.  The required score will depend on your level of entry and your chosen course. Please visit English language requirements for more details. We offer Pre-sessional English language programmes for applicants who do not yet meet the required English level for entry onto our degree courses.
