Forthcoming visit

Staff from the University will be visiting Kuwait in May 2013. Kathryn Land (International Office) will be attending the JnS Arabian Education Fair. Please visit our stand at the event to receive advice and materials for applying to study at the University of Portsmouth.

Entry requirements

We are happy to consider overseas applications on a case by case basis.  As a general guide:

Foundation:

A minimum of 60% pass in the Shahadat-al-thanawia-al-a'ama (General Secondary School Certificate).

Undergraduate:

Successfully pass a recognised foundation programme.  If you have a 2 year diploma from a recognised institution, you can be accepted for the first year of a degree programme.  You could also be considered for Year 2 of a relevant programme, depending on the areas covered and the grades achieved. 

A-Levels and the International Baccalaureate are also accepted.  Students with a Higher National Diploma (HND) or Higher Diploma can be considered for advanced entry onto a relevant undergraduate degree programme.

Postgraduate:

As a minimum, we require a good degree with 2nd class (minimum GPA of 2.33 on the scale of 4). 

For entry onto our MBA International, students will also need at least 3 years relevant work experience after graduation in a managerial or supervisory capacity.  Work experience is also required for several other postgraduate courses and many courses will require you to have studied relevant subjects. PhD:

Students holding a good Masters Degree will be considered for PhD study upon submission of a research proposal. Please visit our Graduate School pages for information on specific areas of research.

English Language requirements:

We accept IELTS, TOEFL, IGCSE  and several other certificates. The required score will depend on your level of entry and your chosen course. Please visit English language requirements for more details. We offer Pre-sessional English language programmes for applicants who do not yet meet the required English level for entry onto our degree courses.
