Scholarships and bursaries

Students from Russia are eligible to receive our PassPort Bursary.  The PassPort Bursary gives privately-funded students a 10% tuition fee reduction for their first year of study at Portsmouth.  It applies to all degree courses with fees of £10,500 and above.  You do not need to apply for the PassPort Bursary - eligible applicants will be awarded automatically.

Entry requirements

Applying for a Bachelor Degree:

'Attestat' and 1 year of undergraduate University study or foundation year.

Applying for a Master's Degree:

'Specialist' Diploma with a minimum grade 4/5.
Students with 'Baklavr' (high grades only) may also be considered for MA / MSc Degrees.

Some courses will require you to have studied relevant subjects. Please see our full course list for more details.

English Language Qualifications:

We accept IELTS, TOEFL, IGCSE and several other certificates. The required score will depend on level of entry and your chosen course. Please visit English language requirements for more details. For information on examination dates, please visit the British Council Russia website.

Visit from MIIT University Moscow

In November 2008, 15 final year undergraduate students from MIIT University in Moscow, Russia, became students of the University of Portsmouth for one week. The students of MIIT, a university which specialises in railway management and engineering, came to Portsmouth Business School to take part in a series of lectures on Finance. They also took the opportunity to visit a number of companies with links to the transport industry including Siemens Depot, Network Rail and St Pancras-Eurostar station.

The students, who completed their programme on Thursday 13 November, were presented with certificates of attendance at the Spinnaker Tower, Gunwharf Quays, by Linda McCormack, Business Development Director at Portsmouth Business School, and Dr Peter Andrew, Principal Lecturer in the Department of Accounting & Finance.

MIIT is the largest university specialising in railways and transportation in Russia and believes that its students benefit greatly from international experiences, both in terms of improving their English language levels and learning about global finance from a western perspective.
