  • Scholarships and Bursaries

    Students from Turkey are eligible to receive our PassPort Bursary.  The PassPort Bursary gives privately-funded students a 10% tuition fee reduction for their first year of study at Portsmouth.  It applies to all degree courses with fees of £10,500 and above.  You do not need to apply for the PassPort Bursary - eligible applicants will be awarded automatically.

    Staff from the University will be visiting Turkey in March.  Catherine Cole (International Office) and Dr Gary Barrett (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences) will be attending the a2 Education Fairs.  Please visit our stand at one of the events to receive advice and materials for applying to study at the University of Portsmouth.

  • Entry requirements

    We are happy to consider overseas applications on a case by case basis.  As a general guide:

    Foundation:

    Students with the Devlet Lise Diplomasi (State High School Diploma) or Lisa Bitirme Diplomasi (Private High School Finishing Diploma) will normally be required to successfully complete a Foundation Year before beginning their undergraduate studies.  We offer an Engineering and Technology Foundation Year in our Faculty of Technology. On successful completion of this foundation year, students can transfer to one of a wide range of engineering and technology degrees.

    Exceptionally high grades (close to 4/5) from good high schools will be considered for direct entry onto Year 1 of a degree programme without a foundation year.

    Undergraduate:

    The minimum entry requirement is one of the following:

    - At least one year of degree-level study at a recognised university.  You may be considered for Advance Entry to our Year 2 if you have completed over three years of study at a recognised institution with good/excellent average grade

    - Good UK A-Level Grades - this will be based on UCAS tariff point equivalency, including subject specific requirements where appropriate

    - Between 24 and 31 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB), depending on the specific degree course being applied for

    Postgraduate:

    Students with the Lisans Diplomasi can apply for one of our Master degree programmes with the following GPAs:

    Graduating from a Tier 1 university

    For courses requiring 2:2 - a GPA of 2.2/4 is expected
    For courses requiring 2.1 - a GPA of 2.4/4 is expected

    Graduating from a Tier 2 university

    For courses requiring 2:2 - a GPA of 2.4/4 is expected
    For courses requiring 2.1 - a GPA of 2.6/4 is expected

    Graduating from a Tier 3 university

    For courses requiring 2:2 - a GPA of 2.6/4 is expected
    For courses requiring 2.1 - a GPA of 2.8/4 is expected

    Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to a Masters programme with a lower level degree if they have work experience relevant to the course applied for. Pre-master programmes are available at International College Portsmouth (ICP) for a number of courses.

    For entry onto our MBA, students will also need at least 3 years relevant work experience after graduation in a managerial or supervisory capacity.  Work experience is also required for several other postgraduate courses and many courses will require you to have studied relevant subjects.     PhD:

    Students holding a good Masters Degree will be considered for PhD study upon submission of a research proposal.  Please visit our Graduate School pages for information on specific areas of research.

    English Language requirements:

    We accept IELTS, TOEFL, IGCSE  and several other certificates.  The required score will depend on your level of entry and your chosen course. Please visit English language requirements for more details. We offer Pre-sessional English language programmes for applicants who do not yet meet the required English level for entry onto our degree courses.
